I want to know more about the repeat injection against coronavirus this fall
Anyone aged twelve years and older can get a repeat vaccination against corona in the autumn. Find answers to your questions about the repeat vaccination here.
What is the difference between a booster and a repeat injection?
There is no difference. A booster and a repeat injection both enhance the effect of the basic series on the immune system. This provides temporary extra protection against coronavirus.
The name ‘repeat injection against coronavirus’ is used because it clearly indicates that the shot may be repeated more often. How many times exactly depends on how the virus develops.
I have not been vaccinated yet; can I get a repeat injection?
If you have not had a single corona vaccination, you first need the basic series against corona. You can still get this. You don't have to wait until fall for that. The basic series consists of 2 injections with an mRNA vaccine (BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna). Don't want an mRNA vaccine? Then you can also choose 2 injections with Novavax or 1 shot with Janssen. Already had coronavirus? Then you can get a vaccination at least 8 weeks after infection. One injection of the basic series will suffice (doesn’t matter which vaccination).
Do I need this repeat injection to travel abroad?
This may differ for each country. Always check before departure what the measures are in the country of destination. On www.wijsopreis.nl you can read if you need coronavirus vaccinations (and how many). And how long these are valid for.
